Mike Thomas
Managing Partner
Mike was a Venture Capitalist at the Inova Health System Strategic Investments (ISI) in northern VA. He was one of three partners managing a $150MM strategic fund. With a 1.3x multiple on invested capital to date, Mike’s IRR stands at 33.9%. Prior to Inova, he was a serial healthcare technology CEO for over 20 years. Mike raised $125 million in capital
and drove shareholder returns that ranged from 4x to 80x, including one IPO and one acquisition.
Mike was most recently the founder and CEO of Appian Medical, a digital health firm that served the sleep apnea market. Previously, Mike was CEO of iSonea Ltd (ASX:ISN), a publicly traded global, mobile health app developer and medical device manufacturer in the respiratory disease market, where he increased the company’s market capitalization from $4MM to $250MM. Earlier in his career, Mike was President and CEO of Sleep Solutions, a VC-backed medical device manufacturer, EVP of Sales and Marketing for National Sleep Technologies (NST, acquired by GE Medical), and Vice President of Sales at Patient InfoSystems (NASDAQ: PATI).
Mike began his career in sales and marketing at Merck and GlaxoWellcome. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Tanzen Medical, Inc and is Chairman of the Board for international medical device innovator Bone Index Limited (Finland), a med device startup focused on diagnosis of osteoporosis. He is also a former board member of AdvaMed, the global medical device association. Mike graduated from Cornell University with a degree in
Microbiology.

Tom Deur, MD
Managing Partner
Dr. Tomislav Deur (Tom) is a board-certified radiologist currently working at UPMC Altoona. He has over 17 years of radiology experience working in various clinical settings ranging from urban and rural hospital settings to practicing teleradiology from Australia and Europe.
Dr. Deur attended an accelerated 7 year BA-MD program and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Brooklyn College and a Medical Doctorate degree from the SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn. He was selected into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society as a junior college student and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internal medicine radiology internship at Staten Island University, and his radiology residency and interventional/vascular radiology fellowship at New York University.
Dr. Deur has a passion for entrepreneurship, and he recently received a Small Business Innovation Research Phase 1 (SBIR) grant for the development of a vascular access device for hemodialysis patients. This prestigious grant is awarded through the National Science Foundation to further research on technological innovations that may benefit society. Dr. Deur currently has multiple patent pending applications for vascular devices. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, and his hobbies include cycling and traveling.

Robin Prasad, MD, MS, MBA
Managing Partner
Dr. Robin Prasad is a board-certified radiologist with fellowship training in MRI and Neuroradiology. He has over 20 years of experience as a radiologist and has worked in a variety of clinical environments. In 2010, Dr. Prasad co-founded Lexington Radiology Inc., and as Chairman, helped lead the transformation of a troubled department into the highest rated service line in the hospital.
Dr. Prasad earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he placed 2nd in MIT’s mechanical engineering design competition. He completed his medical training and a Master of Science in biomedical engineering at McGill University. His Master’s thesis was the development of a computer simulation of the human respiratory system. He recently earned an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Prasad completed an internship at Tulane University, residency at New York University, and a fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Prasad has a life-long passion for entrepreneurial endeavors. Over the past 15 years, he has become increasingly involved in early stage companies with regards to development and investment. He has been a partner in a real estate investment firm for 15 years. He has been a board member of TiE Pittsburgh and is also a member of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association. He has assessed hundreds of early stage companies. His prior experience investing in early stage companies has yielded profitable returns and been highly rewarding. On a personal note, Dr. Prasad enjoys time with his wife of 20 years and their two young children. His main hobby is playing the drums
